Ukiyo-E Woodblock Print Lucky God Daikoku and White Mice by Hokusai

Published in two volumes under the title “Collection of Katsushika’s Drawings” by Matsushima Magokichi in 1890, these Meiji era prints are beautifully carved and printed with attractive color and expressive calligraphic line work. Some images include embossing, a deluxe publishing technique. Subjects range from beauties and scenes from everyday life to animals and the supernatural. These charming illustrations are a great way to collect a classic Hokusai subject in a fine Meiji era printing.

Special detail – Cloth embossing on the white bag.

Artist – Hokusai (1760 – 1849)
