Authentic Genuine Ukiyo-E Woodblock Print By Katsukawa Shunzan Outing in the Snow
Katsukawa Shunzan (year of birth unknown – April 7, 1841 ( May 27, 1841 )) was an ukiyo-e artist from the Edo period
History
Although he is said to be a student of Shunsho Katsukawa , he is said to have actually received painting lessons from Shunhide Katsukawa , a disciple of Shunsho . His real name is Ozeki, but his common name is Bunkichi. He called himself Katsukawa and left behind nishiki-e paintings of beautiful women from the Tenmei period to the Kansei era . Haruyama’s paintings of tall beauties differ from Shunsho’s style and are strongly influenced by Torii Kiyonaga . For a period of time, he became a disciple of Yoshinobu Jukotei and called himself Masaru Izumi, but later returned to the name Haruyama.
